About
The dr.Anne Association is a self-supporting nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Proceeds from materials amd training Courses are used to fund the website, volunteer activities and provide on-going Practice Circles.
In this section we will provide background history of the program that you are free to use for promoting your Circle or Course. In addition we want to encourage you to send us your photos, videos and articles to share.
Background History
The origins of this program go back to 1972 when Anne Seifert, Ph.D.epidemiologist, had a consulting practice working as Co-Investigator for the Institute of Health Reseach at Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. She worked with famed pathologist and Chief Investigator Dr. George Z. Williams. He promoted behavioral lifestyle change as a way to prevent or forestall chronic debilitating disease later in life. Under a National Institute of Health grant they conducted a study of how healthy people could stay healthy. The study included over 2,000 people who were regularly evaluated using laboratory tests, exercise protocols, and lifestyle habit questionnaires. This four year study, demonstrated that lifestyle change had positive impact on blood pressure, body fat and overall health scores. From years past, these similar conclusions are drawn from the classic 1960’s Belloc and Breslow study, and the continuing 1976 Nurses Health Study. In essence, health practices matter.
Following her experience at the Institute dr.Anne began her mission to find a way to make eating healthy, good exercise, and balancing life situations easy. She studied existing weight loss and lifestyle programs, some good, but too demanding to be practical for daily living, and others just not that healthy. Finally, in 1982 dr.Anne wrote her first book on the subject “The Intelligent Woman’s Diet”. She offered classes through clubs and government agencies. Realizing that education was not enough– that people needed support for life style change– she created a progam that we now have in its final form as the dr.Anne plan. It combines everything into one package. And it is easy to learn, has elements of fun, and is sustainable for a lifetime.

You can model your own promotions for Practice Circles or Courses after these. We include samples from prior events and classes.
Our Media Gallery:
Here we can celebrate the many years the dr.Anne program has been operating with different organizations and different venues.
Take a look at our Practice Circle photos. Send us yours and we can add them here.
Also, photos of food plates with palm/thumb portions would be great.
Please be aware that our dr.Anne You Tube channel https://www.youtube.com/@drAnne9 contains recordings of Practice Circles and some tips. Send us your video and it can be included on our channel. Send photos and videos to team@dranne.net
We have created this section to satisfy your appetitie for good healthy foods you can make at home. Yes, please send your own recipes– and make sure that your ingredient list uses palm and thumb portions to measure. You can follow the example of how others have done this. Bon Apetit!
In this section we have a compilation of interviews, press clippings, and other media announcements that may be of interest. These tell the story of the dr.Anne plan.
If you get any press or media coverage for your Circle or Course we would be happy to place it here.
